Announcement of Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho: MEXT) Scholarship for 2023
The Japanese Embassy in Nepal has issued a notice of scholarship opportunities in a variety of courses and activities. Nepalese students can now apply for Japan Embassy scholarships. The Japanese Embassy in Nepal announces the competition for Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarships for Nepali students in the subjects of Natural Sciences, Humanities, and Social Sciences for the academic year 2023.
The Government of Japan announces scholarships for Postgraduate/Research Students, Undergraduate Students, and Specialized Training College Students for the Academic Year 2023 under the MEXT Scholarship Program as follows:
Details of Japanese Embassy Scholarship Applicant Candidates’ Programs and Qualifications
A. Post Graduate/ Research Students:
Applicants must be Nepali nationals under 35 years of age as of April 1st, 2023 (i.e. born on or after April 2nd, 1988) and have completed at least 16 years of education and secured 70% marks (CGPA: 3.1) for Natural Sciences and 60% (CGPA: 2.5) for Humanities and Social Sciences in average in all levels of exams.
B. Undergraduate Students:
Applicants must be Nepali nationals between 17 to 24 years of age as of April 1st, 2023 (i.e. born between April 2nd, 1998 and April 1st, 2006). Applicants must have completed a 12-year regular course of education and have secured 75% marks (CGPA: 3.5) for Natural Sciences and 65% (CGPA: 2.9) for Humanities and Social Sciences individually in SEE and plus two exams.
C. Specialized Training College Students:
Applicants must be Nepali nationals between 17 and 24 years of age as of April 1st, 2023 (i.e. born between April 2nd, 1998 and April 1st, 2006). Applicants must have completed a 12-year regular course of education and have secured 75% marks (CGPA: 3.5) for Natural Sciences and 65% (CGPA: 2.9) for Humanities and Social Sciences individually in SEE and plus two exams.
Selection:
Qualified Applicants should give written examination to be conducted by the Embassy on July 9, 2022.
The applicants’ field of study must be the same as their previous studies that led to their final graduation. Along with the application, notarized copies of academic transcripts and proof of Nepali citizenship are required.

Process to Apply:
Please send the notarized copies of your academic records (mark-sheets, certificates) and citizenship certificate together with an application form and a recommendation form to education@km.mofa.go.jp

For Undergraduate Students: 17:00 hours of July 1, 2022
For Specialized Training College Students: 17:00 hours of July 1, 2022
